Dreams with deep roots,

born from sincere values

The history of Los Pinos is intertwined with Monteverde's roots and the vision of three generations of the same family. In 1937, Rafael Arguedas Herrera arrived in Monteverde. A pioneer in community development, he dedicated his life to promoting education and paving the way in a territory that would eventually become an iconic destination. The property where Los Pinos is located today is part of his legacy, passed on to his son, Jovino Arguedas.

In 1987, Jovino and his wife Leyla Morales, a couple originally from Monteverde who were then dedicated to dairy farming, built the first cabin with their own hands, designed to accommodate family and friends. This hospitable gesture marked the beginning of a new era. Over time, they built three additional cabins, always with the premise of offering independent, private, and fully equipped spaces.

With the arrival of the second generation, hospitality was combined with a broader vision: sustainability and conservation. Under the constant guidance of Jovino and Leyla, their children transformed the property into a model of responsible tourism, protecting the cloud forest and forging active relationships with the local community.

Today, under the management of the third generation—also guided by the vision of its founders—Los Pinos continues to be an example of ecotourism, where biodiversity and community well-being converge to create a model that honors our roots and projects a more conscious future.
